How to Find Direction and Inner Peace as a Teacher
Day 5: Data Collection
Days 1-4 have set you up mentally and emotionally to begin the next three days in this journey. For Days 5-7, you will be digging into classroom data to support your direction.
You will want your vision handy for the next three days. For this exercise, it is merely you collecting data that will support informing you where your students are in relationship to where they need to be. Tomorrow you will begin the analysis but for today, just collect any data you have to support where your students are in relation to where they need to be by the end of the year.
Here are some suggestions of data points you can pull. I would recommend making your own list/ checksheet to support your own analysis. And, I would recommend setting a timer for 30-60 minutes.
- Student diagnostic scores
- Most recent test/ quiz scores
- Current grades
- Student Needs Assessments/ Interest Inventories/ Surveys
- Parent/ Family Needs Assessments/ Surveys
- Most recent writing samples
Facebook Community Action Step:
- Share with the group one piece of data you have collected to analyze!
